Title Compliance Office – SCAM ALERT!

Recently I’ve had several members phone me or send me a copy of a report allegedly from the Title Compliance Office. This is a blatant scam trying to separate you from $167. Everybody gets a copy of your Grant Deed when you purchase a property and if you don’t have it either the Riverside County recorder can get you one or most any title company can do it for nothing or a small fee for printing and mailing.

We are researching more on this outfit but here’s what the Better Business Bureau had to say:

Company Rating F
Our opinion of what this rating means:
We strongly question the company’s reliability for reasons such as that they have failed to respond to complaints, their advertising is grossly misleading, they are not in compliance with the law’s licensing or registration requirements, their complaints contain especially serious allegations, or the company’s industry is known for its fraudulent business practices.

We received this letter in the mail today. It looked official but smelled like a scam so I Googled their name and found your post. Thanks for sharing this information. I just didn’t like giving someone that I didn’t even know or hear of before permission to access my property records. I will toss their letter in the trash! :-)

Glad we saved you $167, plus allowing someone to have access to your housing info as well as other identifying info. For $10 the Assessors office will gl;adly get you a copy if you really need it for some reason.

Got one today and suspected a scam so i called the number provided on this very official looking letter. the number cycles to a voice mail box with no name, just a man with a heavy hispanic accent calling it the “Title Compliance Office”. Left a nice message for him….something along the lines of reporting him to the consumer protection agency. That site offers no helpful information, maybe the newspaper should know about this. I’m tired of rip offs and worry about others that may not understand the process. THANK YOU FOR THIS SITE!

Thank God for the web and for people that exposes these scammers! They should be prosecuted and throw them in jail. God knows how many people would send them the $ for papers that will cost a fraction of what they claim they are worth. La Quinta Cove Citizen.

My 82 year old mother in law received this letter in her Chase Mortgage envelope complete with her payment history for the last four months! Apparently Chase is in bed with the crooks.

Glad you avoided the scam. If I had just 10% of the money people claim to have saved by reading this I could retire today. Unfortunately the people pulling this off must be doing OK too. We’ll be talking to our new Riverside County DA after the first of the year.

    Lee Mesa AZ.
Received the scam letter from Title Compliance, Records Retrieval Division, PO Box 20067 Phoenix, AZ 85036, (888) 239-5849 on Jan. 8, 2011.
They are asking for $157.00 for a Property Deed to our property that we got when we purchased the property!
Smells like a scam to me

You may be sure it is a scam. Maybe they’re hoping the word hasn’t spread to AZ yet.
